ACCOMPANIMENT

Definition:

Music played to support a person who is singing or playing a musical instrument or dancing

Description:

The man in the image above is dancing with the accompaniment of a guitarist. The guitarist is supporting the man who is dancing, by  giving him some background music to dance to.

DIRECT CORRELATION

Definition:

When dance movements and the beat of the music is synchronised

Description:

In the video about, please note how each movement is accompanied with a beat from the music, in complete synchronisation. That is dancing in direct correlation.

MUSIC VISUALISATION

Definition:

A dance that constitutes a direct translation of music into motion


CALL AND RESPONSE

Definition:

A structural device most often associated with African dance and musical forms; one soloist or group performs, and the second soloist or group performs in response to the first.


Description:

Note that the students respond to the call of their teacher.
